Measure your performance on Google

Measure your performance on Google

If you use a site hosting service like WordPress, Squarespace, or Wix, your hosting service might give you a dashboard or plugin that shows how your site is doing in the search engines. Look up “Squarespace analytics” or “Wix SEO” on the internet to find out what tools your site host has. You can also ask them.

There are some site hosts that work with the search engine’s Search Console. You can look at how your site does in search engine results, including how many people see it, how many people click on it, and how high it usually ranks.

  • Impressions: When someone searches for something on a search engine, how many times has your site been shown to them
  • Clicks: The number of times someone has clicked on a link to your site that was found in a search.
  • Average position: This is the average place your site is in search results (where position 1 is the top position).

It’s possible to use Search Console for other things, like seeing if there’s an error that might keep search engines from being able to figure out your site. You can also send search engines your most important URLs so they know to crawl and maybe even index them.
